Ondoy: Banaba Feeding

We needed to ride a small boat to get to the other side of the river.
The fare is only P1 per person (free for kids).
Shanties used to “adorn" those river banks.
They have been washed away by the flood.
We needed to walk up and down the river side to get to the place
they have allotted for the feeding program.
Children smiling, with their respective bowls or cups in hand, greeted us.
We prayed for the food and for the families of these kids.
They then eagerly lined up for a bowl of hot champorado.
Sarap! Yummy!
I already sampled the food before we went to the place.
I talked to some of the kids while they were eating.
“How did you get to safety? How are you right now?”
After eating, the kids were given Kiddie Packs
containing noodles, biscuits and juice.
I asked one if she will share the goodies to her older siblings. She nodded.
We saw some women washing their soiled clothing and belongings in the river.
Children also play and swim in the area. (RPLAI Feeding Program, Brgy. Banaba, San Mateo Rizal)
