Darling Caller

I received a phone call from one of our customers this week.  I bid her “Good Morning” but she did not return my greeting.  She was always like that.  Parang laging nagmamadali.

She just said, “Gusto kong makausap si .....”  But the person she mentioned was on another line, talking to another customer.  So I told her, “May kausap lang po siya sa kabilang phone.  May I know who’s on the line?”  She did not answer.  She just hung up.  Clink!

I got cross.  I felt insulted.  And so I got her number from the directory and called her.  But her line was busy so I decided to just cool off a bit, shake-off my hands and breathe.  Hush, Pedo, hush.

After around 15 minutes, I again dialed her number.  She answered, “Yes…”  I said, “Ma’m, you called a while ago and binabaan ninyo ako ng phone (heavy breathing.)   I just want to tell you that I was offended with what you did (heavy breathing ulit).”

At first she denied that it was her but later on, she admitted to her crime.  But she reasoned, “Pasensiya na ha, akala ko yung kausap ko, yung tagasagot n’yo lang ng phone.  Hindi ko alam na kayo iyon.”  I told her that regardless of who she is talking to, be it our utility man or our Chairman, she shouldn’t be hanging up.

I have answered some of her calls before.  She do not hang up but she already has an attitude.  Like she will just tell you, “Pakisabi, tumawag ako.”  She talks as if I already know her or already recognize her voice.  Sigh.

I didn’t tell her that she was rude or “bastos” (I just said that I was offended).  But that was how she acted.  She doesn’t know how to respect people.

I hope that she will learn her lesson.  I hope that it will be the last.

She is definitely a darling.  Joke!
