Gleanings For the Poor

There is a beautiful verse in the Old Testament about God’s command to those among us who are quite well-off in terms of material wealth. Leviticus 19:9-10 says,

“When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Do not go over your vineyard a second time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and the alien. I am the Lord your God.”

Those who have much should learn to partake their harvest to the less privileged people. One should learn to share with others, and not be focused on one’s own needs and comfort. One should realize when to acquire and when to stop and say, “Thank you, Lord, I have more than enough!”

But the verse is particularly comforting for those who are poor. God truly cares for his people, especially the needy – be it physical or emotional needs. He is forever mindful of us. He knows us by name. Imagine that! God, the creator of all things, thinking of you!

Bro, the Lord will provide for us, in many special ways. Just trust ...
